Animals are especially fascinating to photograph. Every movement, expression, and small detail can make a picture feel unique. And where can you see many different animals in one place? For most people, the answer is the zoo. Since childhood, I have visited zoos regularly and enjoyed photographing the animals there. But after my last visit in autumn, my perspective changed. I started thinking more about animals living in captivity, and today I feel conflicted about zoos. Because of that, I now try to avoid visiting them.

After visiting the zoo and editing these photos, I found myself thinking more deeply about what I had captured. Are zoos still appropriate in this day and age? Everyone has their own opinion on that, but sometimes it is important to take a closer look, question what we see, and reflect on the world around us.

My most meaningful photo. At the time, it was the first one I took in the wildlife/animals category. This really gave my photography career a big boost.

After a long break and a move to a new place, I just went out with my camera. Right in the university district, I spotted the city rabbit.

Sometimes, black-and-white photos are more fitting

It took me a total of 5 days to get this photo. I knew the kingfisher was in the area. With a little patience, I was finally able to get the shot.
